This policy explains what AOTC (“we,” “us”) collects when you use getaotc.com, why we collect it, who helps us process it, and how you can ask us to see or delete it. If you have a question, email YOUR-EMAIL@example.com.
Who AOTC is for
AOTC is designed for college students who are 18 or older. Parents and schools may also contact us or buy on a student’s behalf. AOTC is not directed to children, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Free workbook sign-up: your name, email address and the role you choose (for example, college student or parent).
- Fellowship application: your name, email address and the answers you write in the application, such as your school, the track you’re interested in and why you’re applying.
- School and college inquiries: your name, email address, school or organization, and anything you write in the message.
- Purchases: when you buy AOTC Complete or another product, we receive your name, email address, what you bought, the amount, and the payment status from our payment processor. We do not receive or store your full card number.
- Your account: when you buy, we create an account on getaotc.com with your name and email so you can sign in to your lessons. We store which lessons you’ve marked complete so we can show your progress.
- Emails you send us: anything you choose to include.
Information collected automatically
- Site statistics: our host, WordPress.com, records basic visit information such as pages viewed, approximate location, browser and referring site, which we see as overall statistics.
- Cookies: we use cookies needed to keep you signed in and to make the site work. Our host may use cookies for site statistics and security.
- Embedded content: lesson videos are embedded from YouTube using its privacy-enhanced mode, and fonts load from Google Fonts. When these load, Google receives standard technical information such as your IP address and browser type. Google’s privacy policy applies to that information.
How we use it
- To send you the free workbook and the emails you signed up for, such as the 7-day lessons and weekly tips.
- To review Fellowship applications and contact applicants.
- To reply to school and college inquiries.
- To process payments, give you access to what you bought, handle refunds and send receipts.
- To show your course progress and support you if something goes wrong.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it.
- To keep the site secure and meet legal and tax obligations.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising.
Who processes it for us
- Stripe processes all payments. Your card details go directly to Stripe and are handled under Stripe’s privacy policy (stripe.com/privacy).
- WordPress.com (Automattic) hosts this site, stores form submissions and accounts, and provides site statistics.
- Google (YouTube and Google Fonts) delivers lesson videos and fonts.
- Email: if we use an email service to send the workbook emails, it receives your name and email address only to send those emails.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of AOTC, our students or others.
Emails
Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email us to stop. We’ll still send messages about a purchase you made, such as receipts and account emails.
How long we keep it
- Workbook sign-ups: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
- Fellowship applications: up to 2 years after the class you applied for, unless you join, in which case for as long as you take part.
- Purchases and payment records: as long as the law requires for tax and accounting, usually up to 7 years.
- Accounts and lesson progress: as long as your account is open.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we have about you,
- correct it,
- delete it, including your account, or
- stop sending you marketing emails.
To make a request, email YOUR-EMAIL@example.com from the address you used with us. We’ll reply within 30 days. We may keep records we’re required to keep by law, such as payment records. Deleting your account removes your access to purchased lessons.
If you live in California or another place that gives you privacy rights, you can use these rights at no cost, and we won’t treat you differently for using them.
Security
We use reputable providers and limit who can see your information. No website is perfectly secure, so we can’t promise that information will never be accessed without permission.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we’ll tell people on our email list.
